The Pro plan at roughly $4/month is one of the best bargains in productivity software, and the company's steady, opinionated development, calendar layout, deadlines alongside dates, team workspaces, has avoided bloat. AI Assist fits the product's philosophy: modest help breaking a vague project into concrete next actions, no agent theater.

Where it falls short

If you want AI to actually plan your day, auto-scheduling tasks into calendar gaps like Motion or Reclaim, Todoist does not do that; its AI is a writing aid, not a scheduler. Time blocking requires pairing it with a calendar app. And while shared projects work fine for households and small groups, teams needing dependencies, workload views, or reporting will outgrow it quickly.

Verdict

Todoist is still the default recommendation for personal task management: fast, trustworthy, cheap, and everywhere. Buy Pro without hesitation if you live from a todo list. Look to Motion or Reclaim if you want AI-driven scheduling, and to ClickUp or Asana for real team project management.
