What we do

ToolMango is a reader-supported directory of the best AI tools. We help developers, creators, and operators find tools that actually pay back the time and money they cost. Every tool is scored on real signals — monthly cost, time-to-value, output quality, free-tier generosity, and reader engagement — not affiliate dollars.

We publish hands-on reviews, weekly picks via ToolMango Weekly, and curated guides like best AI tools for developers, ChatGPT alternatives, and best AI tools to make money.

Why we exist

The AI tool space went from a few dozen genuinely useful products to ten thousand sponsored landing pages in eighteen months. Most of what ranks first online is whoever paid the loudest, not whoever built the best thing. ToolMango is the antidote: an editorial directory where the ranking is the product.

How ROI Score works

Every tool gets an ROI Score — a transparent, editorial number built from a fixed set of inputs:

• Monthly cost vs. value delivered
• Time-to-first-result (how fast a new user gets something useful)
• Output quality in our hands-on testing
• Free-tier generosity (does it work without a credit card?)
• Category fit (is this the right tool for the job?)
• Reader signals (clicks, return visits, newsletter feedback)

Crucially, the score is computed before we know whether an affiliate program exists for the tool. Tools we don't earn from frequently outrank tools we do — when they earn it on the merits.

How we make money

ToolMango is free for readers. No subscription, no paywall, no ads, no sponsored placements. Our only revenue is affiliate commissions paid by tool vendors when readers we send their way decide to pay for the tool. Some pay a flat referral fee, others a share of the customer's first-year subscription.
