Privacy Policy

This policy describes what ToolMango ("we", "us", "ToolMango") collects from visitors to toolmango.com, how we use it, and who we share it with. We try to keep it short and honest. Questions: hello@toolmango.com.

1. What we collect

• Email address — only when you subscribe to ToolMango Weekly. Stored in our database and synced to our newsletter platform (Beehiiv).
• Affiliate clicks — when you click a tool's "Try" button, we log the timestamp, the tool, the referring page, the user agent, and a one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address. We never store the raw IP.
• Server logs — standard request logs (IP, timestamp, path, user agent) are retained by AWS for up to one month and then discarded.
• Auth data — admin sign-in via GitHub OAuth stores name, email, and avatar for the authenticated administrator only. Public visitors don't create accounts.

2. What we don't collect

• No tracking cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party advertising pixels.
• No payment data — we never charge users directly.
• No raw IP addresses — only hashed, for fraud and abuse prevention.

3. How we use it

• To send you the weekly newsletter when you subscribe.
• To measure which tool pages drive affiliate clicks (so we can rank tools more usefully).
• To detect and block abuse (rate limiting, spam, scraping).
• To improve our editorial coverage and ROI scoring.

4. Who we share it with

We use a small set of third-party providers to operate the site:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, database, file storage. Data lives in the us-east-2 region.
• Beehiiv — newsletter delivery. Receives your email and signup attribution when you subscribe.
• Anthropic / OpenAI — generates editorial content drafts. Visitor data is never sent to these providers; only ToolMango's own catalog metadata.
• GitHub — admin OAuth sign-in. Public visitors are never asked to sign in.
• Affiliate networks (Beehiiv affiliates, PartnerStack, Impact, others) — when you click a tool's "Try" button, the destination platform sets its own tracking cookie. We never see your purchase details, only whether a conversion happened.

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We disclose data only when legally required (e.g., subpoena) or to protect the site from abuse.

5. Affiliate disclosure

ToolMango earns commissions when readers click through to certain tools and purchase. This does not affect ranking — our ROI Score is editorial and based on cost, time saved, usefulness, and other signals listed publicly on each tool page. Tools we don't have an affiliate relationship with still appear in rankings when they earn it.

6. Your rights

• Unsubscribe — every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing also marks your row in our database as inactive.
• Access / deletion — email hello@toolmango.com to request a copy of the data we hold about you, or to have it deleted. We respond within 30 days.
• EU/UK visitors (GDPR) — our legal basis is legitimate interest (analytics) and consent (newsletter). You can withdraw consent at any time.
• California visitors (CCPA) — you have the right to know, delete, and opt out of sale. We don't sell data, so the opt-out is moot, but the other rights apply.

7. Children

ToolMango is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has subscribed, email hello@toolmango.com and we'll delete the record.

8. Changes

When we update this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top changes. Material changes will be announced in the newsletter.
