What we like

The design-to-production pipeline is the whole story. There is no handoff, no rebuild, no drift between mockup and site — you move a layer, hit publish, and it's live. Animations and scroll effects that would take a developer days come standard, which is why so many polished startup landing pages are recognizably Framer sites. The template ecosystem is deep and high quality, the CMS handles blogs and changelogs without fuss, and the $5 entry price for a custom-domain site undercuts nearly everyone.

Where it falls short

Framer builds websites, full stop — no auth, no user data, no app logic. Agencies juggling many client sites feel the per-site pricing accumulate. And despite the Figma-like surface, responsive layout uses breakpoints and stacks that trip up designers expecting pure freeform drawing; there's a real week of unlearning before you're fast. Complex multi-locale, heavily structured content sites still favor Webflow.

Verdict

For marketing sites, portfolios, and landing pages where visual quality matters, Framer is the strongest tool on the market right now and an easy recommendation. Freelancers can build a real business on it. Just know its boundary: the moment your project needs logins or logic, you've left Framer country.
