Magic Studio is properly integrated rather than bolted on: background removal is one click, Magic Switch reformats a deck into an Instagram post credibly, and Magic Write drafts serviceable copy in place. Brand kits keep small teams consistent, and the collaboration features quietly made Canva the default whiteboard-and-deck tool for thousands of schools and nonprofits.

Where it falls short

The template blessing is also the curse: popular templates are everywhere, and undifferentiated Canva output has become its own recognizable aesthetic. Professional designers chafe within minutes — limited typographic control, no real vector editing, and constraints everywhere original work wants freedom. Serious brand governance (approval flows, locked elements) lives in the pricier Teams tier, and heavy AI users bump into monthly credit limits.

Verdict

For non-designers and lean marketing teams, Canva Pro at $15 is arguably the best value in creative software, full stop. Designers should keep their professional tools and steal Canva for speed when it suits. The only real mistake is expecting it to be something it isn't: it's a content factory, not an atelier.
