Chorus.ai

Chorus.ai was one of the two names that defined conversation intelligence before ZoomInfo acquired it in 2021. The product still does the core job well — record every call, transcribe it, mine it for coaching moments and deal risk — but its context has changed: today Chorus is effectively ZoomInfo's conversation layer rather than an independent Gong rival.

What we like

The fundamentals remain solid. Transcription quality is good, talk-pattern analytics (talk ratio, question rates, monologue alerts) give managers concrete coaching hooks, and the snippet-and-playlist workflow is excellent for onboarding — new reps binge winning discovery calls instead of shadowing randomly. Competitor and keyword tracking reliably flags the calls a manager should actually listen to. And the commercial logic is real: bought inside a ZoomInfo contract, Chorus typically lands meaningfully cheaper than Gong, with call insights sitting next to the contact and intent data reps already use.

Where it falls short

The energy is elsewhere. Since the acquisition, Chorus's product velocity has visibly slowed while Gong shipped aggressively on AI — deal boards, forecast, autonomous follow-ups — and the analytics gap has widened. Buying Chorus standalone, without the ZoomInfo bundle economics, gets you a competent product at a price that invites the Gong comparison it may not win.

Verdict

If you are already a ZoomInfo customer, Chorus is the sensible, well-priced way to add conversation intelligence — negotiate it into your renewal and you will get most of what matters. If you are choosing a standalone conversation intelligence platform on merit alone and budget allows, Gong is the stronger product today. Chorus wins on bundle math, not on features.
