What we like

The filtering is accurate fast. Within a few days of light training, drag a misfiled message once and SaneBox remembers, the inbox becomes genuinely calm, and the daily digest makes scanning the filtered pile a 30-second job. SaneBlackHole is the killer feature nobody copies well: one drag and a sender is gone forever, more reliable than unsubscribe links. Follow-up reminders (email yourself+3days@sanebox.com style addresses) are elegantly low-tech. The client-agnostic design is the moat: no app to adopt, no workflow change.

Where it falls short

You are paying a subscription for something Gmail tabs and rules approximate for free, and the value gap has narrowed as providers improve native filtering. Misfiles happen, an important first-time sender can land in SaneLater, so checking the digest stays mandatory. And granting a third party IMAP access to analyze your mail is a legitimate privacy consideration despite SaneBox's headers-only policy.

Verdict

For professionals drowning in mail across multiple accounts or wedded to clients with weak filtering, SaneBox is a modest fee for a dramatically quieter inbox. Gmail power users and the privacy-strict should pass.
