The interface deserves credit too — it is fast, uncluttered, and consistent, which matters when you spend hours a day in it. Content Explorer is an underrated research weapon for finding link-worthy topics, and the free Webmaster Tools tier is a genuinely useful on-ramp for site owners.

Where it falls short

Ahrefs is expensive and unapologetic about it. There is no trial, and the Lite plan's credit system burns down faster than most users expect, effectively pushing serious users to the $249 Standard tier. It also stays narrowly focused on organic search: PPC intelligence, social tools, and local SEO features are thin compared to Semrush. If you need one platform for a full marketing team, Ahrefs alone won't cover it.
